How To Get Perfect Skin

In 8 Steps Learn How To Get Perfect Skin The secret to younger looking skin How many women do you know who look years older than their actual age? Regardless of whether they spent too much time in the sun, smoked heavily, didn’t exfoliate or take proper care of their skin, the result is the same. Their skin is dry and wrinkled long before it should be. Is it possible to keep your skin looking young?  Of course it is.  The secret to younger looking skin is really no secret at all.  Here are 8 steps on how to get perfect skin that I give to my clients in the salon to help them look younger. Drink plenty of water. Doctors recommend everyone drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water each day. It really does help your skin stay young. Avoid overexposure to the sun.   If you must be out in the sun, be sure to wear sun protection or put on a sun block. Be sure you wear a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.  There are water block sprays available as well.  Always remember to re-apply if you get wet or if you sweat. Do not smoke. It isn't good for your lungs and it isn't good for your skin. In fact, people who smoke are more likely to get several different cancers than people who don't smoke, including lung and oral cancer. Use moisturizers and emollients to keep your skin moist. When applying a moisturizer it is best to apply it while your skin is damp. Be gentle with your skin. Use lukewarm water to wash your face, and do not rub hard. Also be gentle when applying make-up. [...]

Choosing The Right Masque For Your Skin

What Kind Of Skin Care Masque Should I Use? Many people would like to add a masque to their weekly skin care routine, but are not sure which one to choose. This can be confusing especially when you have combination skin. There are several ways to address this issue. When I advise the purchase of a masque, I consider the biggest challenge to the client’s skin first. If the skin is congested and breaking out my first advice is to use a clay based masque. Clay absorbs excess oil, and also has a cooling and calming affect on the skin. Dermalogica has two clay masques that I find to be very effective. The Skin Refining Masque which absorbs excess oil and helps to tighten the pores. The Sebum Clearing Masque which has Salicylic Acid in a clay base. This is very good for skin that is breaking out with acne or hormonal breakouts. For skin that is couperose (broken capillaries), has Rosacea or hyper-sensitive, I recommend a cream mask. Dermalogica’s Ultra-Calming Relief Masque was designed to minimize sensitivity and redness. It also includes Oat and Ginger which helps to restore the skin and prevent future irritation. The new improved Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Masque is my choice for dry, parched and dehydrated skin. This masque is an oil free gel combined with Botanicals and Vitamins to restore moisture. For an anti-ageing treatment the Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque is your best bet. This masque comes in a creamy base filled with Vitamins A, C and E and antioxidant botanicals. If the skin is a combination type one can use two masques to improve the overall look of the skin. For example, if there is an oily t-zone [...]

Sleeping Well Creates Beautiful Skin

Skin Care Benefits Of A Good Night's Sleep We all know the benefits that a good night’s sleep can bring. That is why adults need to get 7-9 hours of sleep a night for the body to be working at its optimum rate. People lacking in sleep have problems that include weight gain, depression and mood swings. The body is at a higher risk for heart disease, diabetes and the inability to handle stress. These are all medical reasons to get a good night’s sleep. Cosmetically, a lack of sleep results in dark circles, puffy eyes, and sallow skin. So in order to have your skin care routine have the best results possible, I encourage my client’s to create a healthy sleep routine. Eight things I recommend to get a good night’s sleep. Create a sleep schedule and try to stick by it. Research shows that going to bed and rising the same time everyday helps the body to recharge itself naturally. Try to avoid looking at Computers and Television an hour before sleeping. There is a blue tone light that confuses our body clock as to what time of day it is. Sleep in a dark room with black out shades if possible. This allows the body to go into a deeper sleep pattern. Keep temperatures at a cooler level so as to not interrupt your sleep by getting overheated. Take a warm bath with Hops or Lavender extract to relax the muscles shortly before retiring. Try reading relaxing or positive material before sleep to avoid thinking about the stresses of the day. Getting sunlight during the day and exercise will increase the quality of your sleep. Try to add this into your daily [...]
