How Salt Affects Your Looks

Often times clients come to me complaining of breakouts and their skin looking puffy and swollen. The first thing I speak with them about is their lifestyle and food that they eat. Salt is a known ingredient that aggravates these conditions and I ask my clients to give up highly salted food for a week to see if there is an improvement in their skin. Salt can often times be hidden in such things as soy sauce or even canned vegetables or microwavable popcorn. So even if you don’t add salt at the table it is most likely in most of the foods you eat unless they are not processed. There are alternatives that can be used such as low salt soy sauce and herbs that are powders and salt free. Once you switch over and start to decrease these additives you really notice how salty many foods naturally are. Although it may not make much sense when you seem to be bloated and retaining water, but that is the time to drink more of it. Drinking water flushes out the system of toxins and salts. The body will feel hydrated and not want to retain the water for fear of being dehydrated. Many people take diuretics prescribed by their doctors. This does help in keeping the swelling down, especially when you have puffy eyes in the morning. There are over the counter diuretics you can take, but remember the water loss is only temporary. As a student of Dr. Allen’s, I incorporate some of his techniques in my foot massage treatment in my Spa. Although there has not been a lot of money in the research of the healing effects of reflexology, there are tremendous amounts of people who find that getting treatments regularly have helped them with their ailments. When receiving reflexology there might be certain parts of the feet that are more sensitive than others. For example the area that pertains to the stomach is generally in the middle of the foot toward the inside. So if someone is having stomach issues, and the correct amount of pressure is applied to that area of the foot, they may feel some discomfort. 5 Holiday Stress Management Tips

Holiday Stress & Parties Add To Your Already Busy Schedule? This time of year is always thought to be joyous and full of event making memories. Whether invited to extended family’s house for dinner, office parties or just catching up with friends to socialize. There is the added stress of trying to maintain a healthy diet, stay on our exercise schedule and keep up with our basic beauty routine. Sometimes we look at our calendars and wonder how we are going to fit it all in. Here are some ideas I have found to help a busy person keep it all together during this Holiday Stress Season. Get enough sleep! It is almost impossible to accomplish all your goals if you can barely make it through the day. Sleep deprivation plays havoc with the skin and make all the things on your to do list seem larger than what they are. Try asking friends or family members for support. This could be as simple asking them to pick up that something extra you forgot at the market, while you offer to mail their package when you are at the post office. Two can accomplish twice as much as one, and more efficiently at times. Cut your workout time in half if need be. We tend to think if we don’t do the entire routine there is no need to do it at all.
